In 5 steps
How to create and download an invoice
Build a free invoice - itemised, tax-ready, and exported as a PDF - in about three minutes.
01
Fill in your business and the recipient
Add your business name, registration number, and contact, then the client's name and address. Every field is editable directly on the invoice - there's no separate form to switch to.
02
Add line items, quantity, and rate
Click 'Add item' for each product or service. The amount column updates automatically from quantity × rate. Edit the column labels (Item, Unit, Rate, Amount) to match your industry or language.
03
Set tax, discount, and shipping
Each row supports a flat amount or a percentage - toggle between the two on the right. Tax is calculated against the discounted subtotal. The Total and Amount Due update live as you type.
04
Pick your currency
Use the currency selector in the toolbar to choose any currency. The symbol or code you pick prefixes every monetary field on the invoice. Date fields use your browser's locale.
05
Preview, then download as PDF
Toggle Preview to see the printable version, then click Download PDF. The file is generated in your browser - nothing is uploaded. The invoice is auto-saved as Final once you download.
Common questions
Invoice generator FAQ
Answers to the questions most often asked about creating an invoice with this tool.
Is this invoice generator really free?
Yes - free to use, no signup, no account, no paid tier, no watermark, and no email required. The tool is 100% client-side: it runs in your browser and your invoice data never leaves your device.
Is my invoice data private? Does the tool send anything to a server?
No data is sent anywhere. The entire generator runs locally in your browser - we don't upload your invoice, your client list, or your logo. There are no account that could be breached. Your invoices live only in your browser's localStorage on this device.
Does the invoice generator work on mobile and tablet?
Yes. The editor and the PDF preview are fully responsive and built to be usable on a phone - tap any field on the invoice to edit it inline, and download the PDF straight from your mobile browser. No app install required; it works on iOS Safari, Android Chrome, and any modern mobile browser.
Do I need a tax ID or business number on my invoice?
It depends on where you operate and whether you're registered for the relevant tax. Many jurisdictions require some form of registration number on a tax invoice (for example a VAT, GST, business, or company number). The generator includes a registration field for both the sender and the recipient - leave it blank if you don't have one, and consider labelling the document simply as 'Invoice' rather than 'Tax invoice'.
Can I add tax - VAT, GST, sales tax, or other?
Yes. The Tax row supports a flat amount or a percentage rate - toggle between the two on the right. Rename the label to whatever applies in your jurisdiction (VAT, GST, sales tax, IVA, TPS), set the mode and the value, and the tax is calculated against the post-discount subtotal.
How does the discount work - flat or percentage?
Both. The Discount row has a flat/percentage toggle. In percentage mode, the discount is taken as a percentage of the subtotal. In amount mode, it's a flat reduction. Either way, tax is calculated on the resulting discounted subtotal.
Does the invoice save automatically?
Yes. Every keystroke is saved to your browser's localStorage. You can come back later, open the History page, and pick up where you left off. Downloading a PDF marks the invoice as Final; before that, it's a Draft.
Can I reuse the same details for multiple invoices?
Yes. Set up an invoice with your business info, logo, default tax, and payment terms, then click 'Save as default'. The next time you click 'New invoice', the editor opens with those defaults pre-filled. Only the line items and the client need to change.
Where are my invoices stored?
Locally, in your browser's localStorage on this device. They do not sync between browsers or devices, and they are not visible to anyone else. Clearing your browser data will delete them.
